Summer Newsletter Spotlight On:  Ron Smith, Cohort #4

Prior to completing the MSIDT Program, Ron held a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from University of Phoenix. 

Today, Ron is working for a Chevron, analyzing, designing, implementing and evaluating curriculum for operations and maintenance refinery employees.  He credits MSIDT with providing him the fundamental knowledge of using computer systems to deliver blended curriculum.  He expresses excitement when he discusses the direction of the training program and their partnership with Coastline Community College.  Leveraging the relationships he formed during the MSIDT experience, Ron is now teaching and preparing students for a career in Process Technology at Coastline. 

When asked how MSIDT has impacted him professionally, he states that MSIDT has had a huge impact on his ability to develop and manage curriculum projects that use cutting edge technology and learning theory.  What he has learned has helped to modernize the design and training practices that were used at his company.  Much of the instructional theory they followed was based on Instructor led classroom facilitation.  Today, they have restructured their learning program into a blended solution, utilizing the latest methods for adult learning in order to maximize knowledge retention and transfer to the work environment.  Ron is a great example of another MSIDT success story!
